House 5 em Moradias Restelo, Lisboa - foto 1
Traditional 3 storey single detached house conceived by Arqº Manuel Joaquim Norte Júnior in 1946, whose construction was finished by 1948. To highlight the typical "portuguese house" style, surrounded by green areas, with a garden next to the South façade, with a neo-barroque influence which becomes evident from the counter-curved pediment with pinnacles of the main façade, from the front porch that precedes the main door and from the balcony of the upper floor. The house is divided in two main areas, the social area on the ground floor and the private area on the upper floor. The back of the house, next to the West façade, has also a garage, a small garden house and a tubular well. There is the possibility of recovering the current structure, which is habitable, having already carried out an alteration and expansion study. The concept of this house intended to maintain the tradicionalism in vogue on mid 20th century while recreating the neo-barroque style, in order to confer some nobility to the new Lisbon neighborhood, which arose after the works for the Portuguese World Exhibition that took place in Belém in 1940. The city house is located at Avenida Torre de Belém, so called since 1945, being the Torre de Belém (16th century) classified as National Monument since 1907 and as UNESCO's World Heritage since 1983.
